"Music alone is a universal language and does not need to be translated; it is that through it the soul speaks to the soul".
(Berthold Auerbach)

This recording is the resuit of a chance meeting of two Creative musicians :

Jacques BURTIN and Jean-Claude MARA use their picturesque instruments to spontaneously imagine musical themes inviting the listener to dream or meditate.

The Kora is a west african harp, traditionally used by the "griots", poets, historians and story tellers that accompanied themselves with this instrument to sing the memories and the dreams of their people. Jacques BURTIN discovered the Kora at Bec-Hellouin Abbey and took it up in order to create his own musical style. His Koras come from the Keur Moussa Monastery in Senegal.

The Pan Pipes, one of the most ancient musical instruments in the world, was chosen by Jean-Claude MARA for its unlimited richness of expression. This allows him freedom to be inspired by a large range of emotions.

These two instruments, that are so different, complement each other here in perfect spiritual harmony and in so doing create a universe where the music is the image of life itself.
