SYRINX ET PAN
In Greece... the sea... the wind... the light... and then... the dream...
PAN, the god of shepherds, a strange-looking herdsman, horns, beard, goat's feet and hooves, gambols down the slopes of Mount Olympus.
Light, beautiful, impalpable, SYR1NX, the nymph, has fallen asleep, lulled by the gentle nature that surrounds her...
In his race, PAN discovers SYRINX.
Moved by so much beauty, he feels a sudden passion rising within him. He proclaims his love.
Out of her daydream, SYRINX sees PAN and runs away madly, pursued by him. Reaching the edge of the Ladon River, SYRINX calls to her aid the god of the river, who, to come to her aid, transforms her into a reed.
PAN, in a gesture of annoyance, tears off a handful of reeds...
The wind blows over the broken reeds and a strange melody is heard, like a call.
PAN imagines that it is a message from SYRINX and to answer him, he in turn blows on the reeds he is holding in his hand.
This is how the first pan flute was born, also called SYRINX.
Understanding that he remains alone, PAN takes the sky to witness his grief.
Gradually regaining confidence, PAN returns to eternity.
