IMPROVISATIONS LIBRES SUR DES THEMES GREGORIENS

We had long planned, Georges BERNES and I, the recording dedicated to Gregorian Chant only, but in a pure instrumental form performed by organ and pan-pipe making on the spur of the moment.

We did not intend to keep rigorously the gregorian melodic line, but to improvise according to spontanous inspiration, preserving the fundamental themes, however.

When I first saw the church of the Abbaye de TOURNAY, I felt enthusiastic about its sober, sedate style and its wonderful acoustics, perfectly suiting our project.
So this recording has been realized.
However, the organ sounds somewhat loud, but all is natural and simple in this recording... such as a flute made from reed !.

An organ resounds under the vault of tuff,
diffusing, sound after sound, its magnificent music.
The most beautiful concert will continue
the recollection in the gothic church.

Borrowing from Pan his fragile reed,
the artist will find on this magic instrument
his personal form of expression
in a wonderful aria,
so that he will create a new and superb melody.

The organ sustains the melody, glorifies the mystery,
invents harmonies unknown to the earth,
preparing thus a marvellous support for the flute.

However, the flutist has glown up the flame,
and, his heart vibrating,
he joyously gives birth to the divine concert
bursting out of his soul.
